Tommy Jett Entertainer’s Reunion
Raising funds for tornado relief this year!
This Sunday, May 15th, will be the 15th annual Tommy Jett Entertainer’s Reunion hosted at the Extend a Suites and Bourbon Street Lounge at 2000 East 23rd Street.
Organizers say, "All of them have been special but this year’s reunion will be especially important for we are going to raise funds for our local tornado victims. Each year we have raised funds for some charity as a side-benefit to our getting together. Last year we raised over $4,000 to help our neighbors in Nashville through Hands Over Nashville. We had initially planned to raise funds for Hospice of Chattanooga this year but Garry Mack, the local liaison of Hospice asked to meet with our board and strongly suggested we hold off blessing Hospice this year and rather, direct all the funds to the localities suffering most form the recent storm. Our board unanimously voted to affirm Garry’s suggestion. We will bless Hospice of Chattanooga at next years’ reunion."
The program will start at 1:00 PM Sunday with the first two hours being dedicated to just the entertainers sharing fellowship and catching up. At 3:00 PM, the program will be opened to the public. We will welcome everyone and then read the list of our deceased members. Eugene Coleman, pastor of the Carpenter’s Cowboy Church and chaplain of the Tommy Jett Entertainer’s Reunion, will pray the annual prayer of blessing of entertainers. The Carpenter’s Cowboy Church band will then present a set of Gospel music with other personalities joining in for the gospel part. Local entertainer Paul Smith will then assign various bands and groups to provide music from then till the late hours.
The success of this benefit will depend on you sharing the informational with everyone you come in contact and then coming and bringing your family. There is a suggested price of $5.00 at the door and buffet will be provided for an additional $7.00. All monies will go to the benefit.
Many of our local celebrities will be attendance. I have a commitment from Danny Shirley of Confederate Railroad who said yes immediately upon knowing we were raising money for local relief areas. Mark Grey has also committed and may be brining one of his old Exile band members. The entertainers consist of all broadcasters as well as the music industry.
The Extend a Suites is the former Ramada Inn on East 23rd Street. For additional information, call 423-488-3322.
